Welcome to Ledyard Public Schools

Mr. Hartling

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We look forward to welcoming our students Thursday, August 31st for our first day of school. This is an exciting time, one filled with optimism and the promise of a new year of learning. Each and every day of school matters. Please help to ensure that your child is in school on-time, each and every day. “The effects of lost school days build up one absence at a time on individual students.”

Student Orientation Events/Save the Date

Family involvement in school has shown to have a significant positive impact on student achievement. The home-school partnership remains a critical component of the educational process. We had a great turnout at the Ledyard High School Orientation for grade 9 students on Wednesday, August 23 and we strongly recommend our grade 6 students to attend their Incoming orientation program on Monday, August 28 at 2:00 pm at Ledyard Middle School.

Save the date for Back to School Nights.  Click here for the schedule:

Transportation

Draft bus routes are posted on the District website and will be finalized on NLT next wednesday. For those riding the bus, please make certain that your children are at their morning stops a few minutes early on the first few days as we make necessary adjustments to address last minute registrations. Thank you in advance for your patience as we all get back into the groove of  the new school year. Remember to use SafeStop App - SafeStop puts key information regarding the whereabouts of your child’s bus at your fingertips so you won’t lose time or energy wondering “where’s the bus?”

Breakfast and Lunch Service For the 2023-24 school year, the State of Connecticut has provided funds to allow:

  • Every student to be eligible for one Free Breakfast regardless of FRL status
  • Those qualified for Reduced Lunch will now receive a single lunch at no charge

Qualification limits for the Free and Reduced Lunch program set by the State have changed.  Based on this, we strongly encourage and request that every family complete this year’s application to determine if they are currently eligible for free/reduced meals.

Click here for the 2023-2024 School Year Calendar. You will continue to receive updates and information from each school you have children enrolled, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the school directly. Thank you for your continued support and for your ongoing commitment to your child’s education.

Wishing you and your children all the best in 2023-2024!

Sincerely,

Jason S. Hartling Superintendent of Schools
