Exactly What is Assistive Technology?

An Assistive Technology device may be any item, piece of equipment, or product, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to maintain or improve a students ability to do something, or do it more independently.
Assistive Technology devices may be categorized into low, mid or high technology.
Low tech is as simple as a pencil grip, all the way to high tech, which involve computer software programs.
