Welcome to Juliet W. Long School

Juliet Long School, located on Route 12 in Gales Ferry, CT, has been serving the families of Gales Ferry for 50 years. Approximately 300 students walk through the doors each and every day striving to make themselves the "best they can be".

Juliet Long School is comprised of grades 3 through 6.  There are four classes at grades 3, 4 and 5 and three classes at grade 6.  Staff members and children alike are involved on a daily basis in the pursuit of excellence. An academic program consisting of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, library and computers coupled with an arts program which includes art, music, band, and physical education allows students to express their academic and artistic talents.

A variety of learning experiences await our students. Whether a cultural event, band concert, trip to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum, or research on the World Wide Web, students are keenly aware of their world and come to appreciate the diversity around them.

Respect for self and respect for others is a daily lesson for our students. Teachers implement Responsive Classroom techniques, building the classroom into a community, which fosters responsibility, self-discipline, and a sense of caring for self and those around him/her.

Home-school communication is valued and encouraged at Juliet Long School. The school and the parents are partners on our students' educational journey. Newsletters, phone calls and letters to and from school are encouraged and welcomed. An answering machine is utilized after school hours and can be used to notify the school in regards to your child's school absence or to leave a message for staff.  Teachers are also available by email.
