Summer Activities Introducing Literacy Instruction and Goals

WHAT: Summer School Program for Ledyard/Gales Ferry students entering Kindergarten for the 2008 - 2009 school year with limited prior preschool experiences. Activities will focus on early literacy skill development and readiness skills through summer related themes.

WHEN: July 1 - 31, 2008, 3 hours daily  (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.), 3 days a week   (Tuesday - Thursday)

WHERE: Gallup Hill School (transportation not provided)

WHO: Class size will be limited to a maximum of 10 students

SELECTION: Students will be selected through a screening process.  The
standardized instrument for the screening is the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS-Pre-K), which measures early literacy skill development. Screening will take place at Gallup Hill School by appointment only on Wednesday, June 10, 2008
