Robotics is a team activity in which Ledyard High students may participate. The FIRST Robotics competition runs from early January through February for the design and construction of the robot. The competitions are in March and April. This activity fosters teamwork, allowing students to follow a project from its assignment through its completion with rigid deadlines. There are opportunities for artistic, photographic, and journalistic students on this project also, as there is a web site: http://www.usfirst.org. The members have opportunities to promote FIRST to various schools and organizations. Team members also have opportunities to mentor younger students.
This year's FIRST Robotics competition kick-off is on January 8th, 2011. The deadline to Bag and Tag our robot is February 22rd, 2011.
