Objectives: The student will:

Be introduced to names of the continents.

Locate North America.

Recognize that the United States is part of the North American continent.

Learn that maps show boundaries.

Identify the four main/cardinal directions or points; north, south, east, west.

Identify and use the legend/key on a map.

Be introduced to the following geographical terms: continent, ocean, sea, lake, river, harbor, coastline, mountain and island.

Locate their own state, capitol city and community on a map of the United States.
