Key Club needs you!!!!  Join this service orientated club and experience the joy of helping others. Key Club was proud to have raised over $800 at the Ledyard Fair for the Alex's Lemonade Foundation which helps fight childhood cancer.  Join us this Friday, September 19th at 12 noon in room 113 for our next meeting  

Community Service Opportunity: Children's Day
Interested in doing more community service? There is an excellent opportunity to support Ledyard Parks and Rec's Annual Children's Day on Saturday, September 20th from 1:00 to 4:00 at Colonel Ledyard Park.  Volunteers will help with activities such as face painting, games, etc. Students who volunteered last year had a blast. See Mr. Jannke in room 211 or email him if you are interested, kjannke@ledyard.net.

Boys' Basketball
Any student who has an interest in playing basketball this winter should meet Coach Cornish on Wednesday at 7:30am in the gymnasium for a very brief sign up meeting.

LHS Math Team
The LHS Math Team is looking for new members from ALL grade levels!  If you enjoy doing math problems or are looking for a different extra-curricular competitive activity, then come to the 1st meeting during Activity Period this week.  See Mrs. Bednarz in room 407 for more information.

The organizers of A Wicked Good Time are seeking Ledyard's most inspired, humorous, creepy and peculiar families, businesses, organizations, clubs and teams to compete for cash prizes for the best Halloween scenes during the Haunted Trail Event on October 17th & 18th. Proposals will be accepted until Friday, September 19th and scene finalists will be selected and notified Sept. 22nd. Cash awards will be presented to the top three scenes: $100 for first place, $75 for second place, $50 for third place. Winners will be selected by an independent committee. Originality, quality of set design, and overall presentation will be the criteria for scoring the entries at the event. The first place winner will receive an automatic invitation back in 2015 to defend their title. The Haunted Trail will be held Oct. 17 & 18 at 6 Linden Lane, Ledyard. Unified Sports – is starting soon.  We have added soccer to our schedule this year.  Come see Mrs. Lyon for more information.  Practice starts Tuesday, September 30th.  If you like sports and helping people this if the activity for you!

Attention Freshman Students who are interested in running for class office: class elections will be held during activity period on Sept. 18th.  If you are interested in running for class office please come to room 405 to pick up paperwork to get on the ballot.  You must pick up and return the paperwork by Sept. 15th so please come by room 405 ASAP!!

The Voice of Democracy Scholarship Contest.  The Voice of Democracy is a national patriotic speech writing competition open to 9th-12th grade students.  To enter the competition, students must record a short 3-5 minute speech expressing their interpretation of the assigned patriotic theme.  This year's theme:  Why veterans are important to our nation's history and future.
Top prize is a $30,000 scholarship.  Many other prizes are available as well. 
For more information, stop by the Main Office to pick up a pamphlet and/or see Mrs. Hargus in Room 403.

TRIP TO QUEBEC
There will be an informational meeting for those French students interested in traveling to Québec this February.  The meeting will take place during activity period, Thursday, September 18 in room 206.
