Mission: The mission of Ledyard Public Schools is to ensure a culture of excellence that maximizes student achievement, develops skills for life-long learning, and prepares students to be productive and responsible citizens in a global society.
Goal I: Outstanding curricula are the foundation of student learning at all times
1. Review, revise and align curricula in academic/fine arts areas to state and national standards/frameworks.
2. Ensure selection and acquisition of high quality support materials that align with curricula.
3. Ensure instruction aligns with written curriculum.
Goal II: Students receive superior instruction in all curricula and co-curricula areas.
1. Ensure that instruction is provided by highly qualified administrators, teachers and instructional support staff.
2. Set rigorous academic benchmarks and appropriately support students to meet or exceed benchmarks.
3. Ensure that all teachers consistently use the results from Common Student Assessments to improve the performance of all students.
Goal III: Every aspect of the school environment supports a culture of excellence.
1. Ensure that the organization of the schools and the educational programs maximize student learning within available resources.
2. Ensure appropriate facilities, equipment, and technology to support student learning.
3. Ensure all schools are safe and orderly.
4. Ensure a respectful school environment for all.
5. Maximize the use of available community resources to promote student achievement.
Goal IV: The district will use effective communication to support student learning.
1. Communicate curricular expectations to parents and students.
2. Provide evidence of student progress toward academic benchmarks.
3. Provide information to parents to support their child’s academic development.
4. Cultivate community understanding and appreciation of educational programs.
